Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef or turkey
  • ¾ cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • For the Glaze
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar apple cider or white

Instructions

Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  • Mix gently until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. Avoid overmixing, as it can make the meatloaf dense.

Shape and Bake:

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a loaf pan.
  • Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it on the baking sheet (or in the pan).
  • Bake uncovered for 40 minutes.

Prepare and Apply the Glaze:

  • In a small bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and vinegar until smooth.
  • After 40 minutes of baking, spread the glaze evenly over the meatloaf.
  • Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until the glaze caramelizes.

Check for Doneness:

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Remove from the oven and let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Serve and Enjoy:

  • Slice and serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or your favorite side dish.
  • Enjoy your delicious homemade meatloaf.
